(FOX40.COM) — A search warrant in Northern California led to the seizure of several illegal fireworks that could earn the violator a $120K fine.

On June 27, the Woodland Police Department, Cal Fire, and other agency personnel served search warrants on two separate residences in Woodland. At one of the locations, 120 illegal aerial firework mortars were located.

WPD seized 120 illegal fireworks at a residential home and said each one is a fine of $1,000./Woodland Police Department.

Firework mortars are powerful fireworks that are launched into the air by using a tube. The tube, or mortar, is filled with chemicals and gunpowder that help launch it into the air.

Police said an investigation is still in progress, but they expect to make an arrest based on the total weight of the fireworks. In addition to the arrest, the violator will be subject to a $120,000 fine based on the new $1,000 per device amendment to the city ordinance, according to police .

WPD issued a warning ahead of the Fourth of July weekend that said “if you light it up, we write it up.”
