Report Shows 110% Rise in Illinois Domestic Violence Deaths as Advocates Call for Action
Advocacy groups are sounding the alarm on a spike in domestic violence cases. A new report from the Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence says domestic violence deaths in Illinois rose by 110% last year, with 94 incidents of domestic violence leading to 120 deaths in 2023. That includes 107 homicides and 13 suicides in which the perpetrators took their own lives. That’s up from the previous year, when there were 45 incidents that led to 57 deaths.

Dump truck flips onto side after crash in Addison; roads reopen, police say

Both drivers were treated for non-life threatening injuries.Chopper 7 was over the scene, where the overturned truck could be seen blocking multiple lanes.The rollover crash caused major traffic problems during the evening commute.The roadways were closed as crews cleaned up the debris from the crash. The roads were reopened around 6:45 p.m., officials told ABC7.
Aurora, IL – Rollover Crash Leaves One Dead, Two Injured
Aurora, IL – Aurora Police are investigating a rollover crash that left one dead and two injured late Wednesday on the city’s far east side. At around 8:40 p.m., officers and firefighters responded to reports of a rollover crash near E. New York Street and N. Eola Road. According to the Aurora Police Department, the crash involved four vehicles, including a Dodge Challenger that rolled over after losing control. The driver of a 2002 Toyota Camry, Gerardo Cuatzo, 44, of Aurora, was pronounced dead at the hospital. Two others sustained minor injuries.
