Ray Sander, President of the Delaware Botanic Gardens (DBG), announced the 37-acre gardens are in full peak summer bloom, and starting on Thursday, July 25 and running Thursday August 8th and August 15th at 9:30 a.m. is the Butterflies & Blooms Class. Sander said, “This Butterflies & Blooms class is a family-friendly class that is both fun and educational. All are welcome.”

Georgetown Pallet Village Faces Funding Struggles, Organizer Says It Will Not Close Down
GEORGETOWN, DE -- Participants in the Springboard Village Program are expressing concerns for the future amidst a funding shortage. A village of 40 pallet cabins and other facilities have housed and served close to 130 homeless individuals since January 2023 when it opened. Nearly 30 people have moved on to permanent housing.
Seaford community is coming together through celebration
DELAWARE – The second annual Community Unite Day is set to take place this Saturday, July 20 in Seaford, Delaware. The Community Unite Day was originally started by Meshell Applewhite. The death of her son led her to want to help people in pain everywhere. She told reporters that House for Pride- an organization that helps feed the homeless, is collaborating with Community Unite to help host the event. She says even though in her own personal life, she is currently still in need, she says helping others and putting similes on children’s faces makes her struggles not seem so bad.

Authorities identify woman arrested for allegedly shooting 7-month-old boy in Philadelphia

Multiple people injured after violent night of shootings, stabbings in Philadelphia
This weekend got off to a violent start in Philadelphia, with a total of 7 people shot or stabbed in multiple incidents overnight. According to police, the first incident happened around 10:54 p.m. on Friday on the 3100 block of N. 16th Street. A 46-year-old man was stabbed once in the right arm and once in the right leg by a known suspect inside an apartment.
Stolen Remains of 19 Black People Now Being Cared For By Philly Youth
Nationwide – A group of young people from Philadelphia who are a part of the National Youth Foundation are stepping up to care for and beautify the grave site for the stolen remains of 19 African Americans who died in the 1800s. Their remains were previously housed at Penn Museum which is owned by the University of Pennsylvania since 1966. However, earlier this year, the remains were given a proper final resting place in a private ceremony held at Eden Cemetery in Collingdale, Pennsylvania.

Two search warrants lead to four arrests in drug dealing investigation
