Door County GOP Chair Up Front at RNC
Door County Republican Party Chair Stephanie Soucek said she had an up-close view of history in the making at this week’s Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. Soucek, one of the 41 delegates representing Wisconsin, said she was seated in the fourth row with the state contingent next to the stage, where they participated Monday in nominating Donald Trump as the party’s candidate for president two days after he survived an assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania.
Press receives state American Legion award
The Verona Press received a Public Relations Appreciation Award from the Wisconsin American Legion on Friday, July 12. Verona’s Mason-Lindsay Post 385 nominated community news reporter Maddie Bergstrom for an award in the Legion’s press category. In a somber update from Lake Michigan, officials have confirmed the recovery of two children after a sailboat capsized near Chambers Island in Wisconsin. The bodies of a 5-year-old daughter and a 3-year-old son were located on Monday, as reported by People. Named Charlotte and Josh, the children were sailing with their father, 32-year-old Bill Salnick of Little Suamico, Wis., when they went missing. The sailboat, an 18-foot Gulf Coast named My Lady Blue, was found capsized early Monday morning.
