    Police ID suspect in intentional hit-and-run in Woonsocket

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — A Woonsocket man is wanted by police for allegedly running down another man with his car earlier this week.

    Woonsocket police have a warrant for the arrest of 37-year-old Andrew M. Martin on several charges, including felony assault and battery.

    Police allege Martin intentionally hit a 30-year-old man with his car late Monday night on East School Street, leaving him in critical condition, according to Chief Thomas Oates.

    Martin drove off, but police have since found his vehicle.

    Oates said he and the victim were involved in an “ongoing dispute over domestic relationships.”

    In addition to felony assault and battery, Martin is wanted on charges of assault to commit murder, driving to endanger resulting in serious bodily injury, and driving with a suspended/revoked/canceled license.

    Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Woonsocket police at (401) 766-1212.
