Cinema society to host two free movie nights in August
Arkansas Cinema Society has two more free movie nights planned in Fayetteville this month. The organizations will host a screening of Back to the Future in Bryce Davis Park at 8 p.m. on Aug. 9, followed by Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves at 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 31 at Fayetteville Public Library.

The University of Arkansas Hope/Texarkana's James Black School of Bladesmithing and Historic Trades is offering a new course later in August called "Forge to Sharp". The University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana James Black School of Bladesmithing and Historic Trades is dedicated to celebrating, preserving, and promoting the art of bladesmithing and historic trades, along with the heritage of the iconic Bowie Knife in Historic Washington. Students at the school immerse themselves in the art and science of bladesmithing, learning about forging, handles and guards, Damascus steel, and more.

First Community Bank promotes two at Cave City branch
First Community Bank has announced the promotion of two team members at the financial institution’s Cave City branch. Cassie Bradley (pictured above, left) has been promoted to assistant vice president, branch manager/head teller. Bradley, who joined the First Community Bank team in 2010 as a floating teller, became a full-time team member in Cave City in 2011. She was promoted to head teller in 2019 and now takes on the additional role of branch manager. Bradley, a Cave City High School graduate of 1996, brings 14 years of banking experience to her new role. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family. Bradley has a 27-year-old son who is married with a one-year-old son. She also has a 22-year-old daughter.
Louisiana YHEC teams win team and individual awards at national competition
Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries would like to congratulate Louisiana’s two Youth Hunter Education Challenge (YHEC) teams for winning numerous team and individual awards last week at the Central Regional Competition at the Benton County Quail Association in Bentonville, Arkansas, including taking the top overall spot in both the Junior and Senior divisions.
Texarkana Arkansas Police Department helps United Way with ‘Stuff the Bus’, 400 back packs donated
TEXARKANA, Ark. (KSLA) - Being prepared for the upcoming school year was the topic of concern for some nonprofit organizations in Texarkana today. Volunteers with the Texarkana Arkansas police department’s “Personal Responsibility In Daily Efforts(PRIDE) program was busy today filling school supplies in backpacks as part of the United Way of Greater Texarkana “Stuff The Bus” initiative. Leaders here say more than 400 backpacks are being prepared for 50 schools in the Texarkana area. The packing was done at the Texarkana Resource Center and center director Jennifer Lewis say they are doing more than just backpacks for the schools.
