    Wooster native selected as Teacher of Year for Northwest Local School District

    Wayne County native Angie Ellis is Northwest Local School District’s Teacher of the Year for 2023-2024.

    She is the physical education teacher at Northwest Primary School in Canal Fulton, where she teaches grades K-2.

    “I absolutely love my job at Northwest Primary teaching the youngest learners the skills, knowledge, motivation and confidence they need to lead a happy, fit, physically active lifestyle," Ellis said. “I am very blessed at Northwest with very supportive administrators, amazing students and staff and supportive and appreciative families.”

    Ellis grew up in Wayne County, graduating from Triway High School where she was one of seven valedictorians in the class of 1995. She resides in Orrville.

    Ellis graduated from Ashland University, summa cum laude. Immediately after graduation, she started her teaching career with Tiffin City School District. She also taught for three years at T.C. Knapp Elementary in Perry Local Schools.
