WORCESTER — The city pool at Crompton Park reopened at noon Friday, after a multiday cleanup of glass found in the water Monday morning.

Crews worked to drain the pool, remove the glass, refill, and balance the chemicals. It was previously reported that the pool would need to be closed until Saturday.

The glass was thrown over the fence at night and found Monday morning. Glass is not allowed in the pool area.

The cleanup cost the city around $735 to replace 144,000 gallons of water, according to Kiernan Dunlop, a city spokesperson. Labor costs were part of regular maintenance.

The reopening comes as the temperature is slightly cooler, registering at 72 degrees as of early Friday afternoon. Temperatures are expected to return to the 80s during the weekend.
