Wellesley, Massachusetts, Commuter Rail station getting major ADA upgrade
WELLESLEY, Mass. — A major upgrade that will increase accessibility is coming to a MetroWest Commuter Rail station. Thirty-four years to the day since the Americans with Disabilities Act was signed into law, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark said she secured $500,000 to enhance ADA compliance at the Wellesley Square train stop on Grove Street.

Revision to Massport charter includes climate objectives in Hanscom planning
In a press release dated July 17, 2024, the office of Acton state representative Simon Cataldo wrote: The Massachusetts House of Representatives voted favorably on omnibus energy and climate legislation that incorporates Representative Simon Cataldo’s…amendment to enact a landmark change to Massport’s charter. The amendment, filed with representatives of other towns near Hanscom Field, requires Massport, an independent public authority, to immediately consider environmental justice, greenhouse gas emissions limits, and climate objectives. The House’s omnibus climate and energy bill passed the chamber by a vote of 131 – 25. According to an email from Catalado’s office, similar language passed in the Senate version of the bill, and the two bills are currently in conference committee to reconcile the differences between the two bills.

A cohort of 11 middle and high school teachers in the local area will be presenting their summer research work in WPI faculty labs at the RET poster session on Friday, August 9, 10:30-11:30am in Higgins House. Ashland teen, Lucille Stillitano had Worcester thinking pink when she appears in Legally Blonde The Musical during session one of the Youth Summer Program (YSP) at The Hanover Theatre and Conservatory for the Performing Arts Friday, July 26 and Saturday, July 27. The fun and upbeat musical follows the adventures of a sorority girl named Elle Woods – a Gemini with a double Capricorn moon – who tries to win her ex-boyfriend back by earning a Harvard law degree. Stillitano will play the Boutique Saleswoman in the production.

53-Year-Old Woman Arrested for Machine Gun, Drugs
WORCESTER – A search warrant led to the arrest of a woman for a machine gun and drugs on Monday, July 22. Officers for the Worcester Police Department successfully requested a search warrant for a black BMW and an address on Florence Street. Officers located the subject of the warrant, Natasha Perry, 53, of Worcester, exit the residence and enter the vehicle.

Bob Cousy has seen all of the Celtics NBA championships and now the Worcester resident will officially be part of the team’s 18th title win. Clinton St. industrial park provokes 17 hours of contentious debate
SHREWSBURY – Though the project has been before the Planning Board since January, the fate of a proposed industrial park on Clinton Street is still uncertain. After the project was introduced to the Planning Board on January 4, the board met monthly, discussing the project at length in February and March as more residents participated in public hearings.
