Barre Family Pharmacy and Rutland Pharmacy to close for good

A pair of small pharmacies in Worcester County will close in late August, with their prescription lists being transferred to CVS Pharmancy.

Barre Family Pharmacy and Rutland Pharmacy are both owned by Alfred Lamas, the latest in a series of operators over the years.

Signs recently posted in each pharmacy detailed the closing plans.

The Barre store, 547 Summer St., will close Aug. 26 and the Rutland store, 18 Maple Ave., will close Aug. 27. Prescriptions from Barre will be transferred to the CVS at 314 Main St., Gardner. Rutland store information will be filed with the CVS at 160 Reservoir St., Holden.
