Lake Monsters win rain-hampered thriller to inch closer to playoffs

The Vermont Lake Monsters didn’t lead on Wednesday night against Worcester until the final run crossed the plate. What was supposed to be a doubleheader against the Bravehearts turned into a single seven inning contest that couldn’t get underway until 7:30 because of rain. Worcester took advantage of sloppy Vermont defense to pile on the runs, but the Lake Monsters continued to chip away eventually scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to walk it off.

Vermont needs just one win in its final four games to to clinch a playoff spot.
