Derek Clark Selected by Los Angeles Angels
West Virginia left-handed pitcher Derek Clark has been drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in the ninth round of the 2024 MLB draft. Clark transferred to WVU before last season after beginning his collegiate career at Northwood University (DII). He got a late start to his 2024 campaign due to injury but finished the season with an 8-3 record, 91 strikeouts, four complete games, one complete game shutout across 97.2 innings pitched with a 3.23 ERA.

Not long after David Hagaman became the final pick of the fourth round when he was selected by the Texas Rangers, another WVU right-handed pitcher came off the board in the next round as Aidan Major was selected by the Cleveland Guardians with the 146th overall pick during Monday’s fifth round.
