Severe storms possible this weekend
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - High pressure will bring sunshine to north-central West Virginia for Wednesday. Look for continued low humidity, not only today, but also on Thursday. Wednesday night into early Thursday will be on the cool side of overage due to clear skies, no wind, and the aforementioned dry airmass. However, warming up into the middle 80s for Thursday afternoon with Canadian air moving out later in the day. Humidity returns in force on Friday and sticks around through Saturday. As our next storm system moves closer, any sun early Friday gives way to clouds quickly. There will be rain showers Friday and a thunderstorm mixing in for the later hours of the afternoon. While any storm on Friday could be strong or severe, there is a better chance on Saturday. Strong winds and heavy rain will be the biggest threats, but we’ll be on the lookout for any additional hazards. The opportunity for severe weather should be over by the beginning of Sunday, but the rain showers remain. This will be beneficial for lessening the drought conditions we’ve been dealing with over the course of this summer.
