ELLIOTT COUNTY, KY (WOWK) – The United States Geological Survey has recorded an earthquake in Elliott County, Kentucky.

According to the USGS, the earthquake happened just after 4 a.m. Monday near Sandy Hook, Kentucky. The quake registered as a 2.3 magnitude, which according to our StormTracker 13 Team, is very small.

Two confirmed tornadoes in area Tuesday, surveys continue

The quake was so small that, as of 10 a.m., there had been no reports of anyone feeling it, according to our meteorologists. The earthquake did show up on the USGS graphs and has been reviewed.

“But now you can say you lived through tornadoes, an earthquake and an eclipse all in less than one week around here,” said StormTracker 13 Chief Meteorologist Spencer Adkins
