Woody Williams Tech & Career Center under construction

CABELL COUNTY, WV (WOWK) – Progress is being made on a new place of learning named after an American and West Virginia hero.

The new Woody Williams Center for Advanced Learning and Careers Center. It’s at the former Sears Department Store in Barboursville.

The large facility is expected to house at least 500 students and 16 different programs. It’s a space not just for students, but for the entire community.

“This is going to be huge, not only for our high school kids. Our middle school kids being able to come here and be a part of this as well,” said Clinton Burch, assistant state superintendent of schools. “And then our adult learners in our communities that are looking for new careers and transitioning into new careers. This is going to be a true community hub.”

The building is still expected to be completed by the end of next year.
