CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) — A local WWII veteran reached a new milestone Monday, turning 101-years-young.

Harold Swisher is a South Charleston resident who served in the U.S. army. At his birthday party, he shared some words of wisdom and experience.

“They take my car away from me when I got to be hundred. They said, ‘you don’t find too many car operators over 100.’ I said, ‘I can probably drive better than some of those 16-year-olds because I’ve never had a wreck,'” Swisher said.

Visiting Angels, who provides homecare services, surprised Swisher with balloons and cake.
