WAYNE COUNTY, WV (WOWK) — A former Wayne County deputy entered a Kennedy plea and has been sentenced on child sex crime charges, according to the county circuit clerk’s office.

The Wayne County Circuit Clerk’s Office said Chester Adkins entered a Kennedy plea to two counts of first-degree sexual abuse and one count of exhibiting material depicting minors engaging in sexually explicit content.

They said he is facing a maximum of 10 years behind bars.

According to a criminal complaint, Adkins is accused of abusing a victim since they were 10 years old.

Adkins was indicted in November 2022 on 40 felony counts regarding sexual abuse of a minor, but new evidence was discovered, and the case was dismissed so he could be re-indicted on more than double the charges he was originally facing.
