Fire at townhouse in St. Albans area knocked down

KANAWHA COUNTY, WV (WOWK) — Crews are getting on the scene of a working fire at a townhouse in the St. Albans area.

Dispatchers say the fire happened on Geronimo Drive in the St. Albans area just after 3:15 p.m. It has since been knocked down. Crews say there was extensive smoke and water damage to the townhouse, and the adjacent townhouse had minor smoke damage.

One person was taken to the hospital out of precaution, according to crews on the scene. One cat died in the fire, they are not for sure about another cat, and a dog got out.

Five fire departments and ambulances from Kanawha County and Putnam County responded.
