    UPDATE: South Charleston fire started in kitchen

    UPDATE: (11:43 p.m. Thursday, August 8 ) — A fire that started in the kitchen of a South Charleston home and spread to the attic, has been ruled accidental.

    That is according to the South Charleston Fire Chief Virgil White.

    White says the home was destroyed.

    No one was injured in the fire that happened along Highland Drive.


    SOUTH CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) — A family escaped their burning home Thursday night in South Charleston.

    The fire broke out at a home along Highland Avenue just after seven o’clock.

    Flames were shooting from the roof when crews arrived.

    No injuries were reported. There is no word yet on how the fire started.
