GREENUP COUNTY, KY (WOWK) — Residents in Greenup County and 14 other Kentucky counties can apply for Disaster Unemployment Assistance if they were impacted by storms from May 21 to 27, according to a release from Gov. Andy Beshear’s office.

The counties that can apply for assistance include Butler, Caldwell, Calloway, Christian, Clay, Greenup, Hopkins, Knox, Logan, Muhlenberg, Simpson, Todd, Trigg, Warren and Whitley.

This is for people living and/or working in those 15 counties, including unemployed and self-employed people who lost or had work affected by the storms, according to a press release.

The release said the assistance is available for those who also can no longer work because of damage or destruction to where they work, can establish that their work was their primary source of income, do not qualify for regular unemployment insurance benefits from any state, can’t work because of an injury as a result of the storms, and those who became the main person with income after the death of the head of a household from the storms.

You can apply by clicking here or calling 502-875-0442. According to Gov. Beshear’s office, you have until Oct. 9 to apply.
