CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – Vandalia Health Network is looking to expand rural healthcare and address food insecurity through its “FARMacy” program.

The organization hosted an event Monday at CAMC Wellness Center, kicking off its latest programming, which Vandalia Health officials say they’re hoping to grow across rural areas of West Virginia.

Funding for the FARMacy program supports a 15-week program offering food, lab work, health education classes, cooking classes and incentives.

“We help patients battle chronic disease through education and produce that allows them to help manage their chronic conditions,” said Katie Lanham, director of practice transformation at Vandalia Health

Vandalia Health Network’s FARMacy program began in 2021 serving about 20 people at the Coalfield Health System in Boone County. It now serves hundreds of people at program sites and pop-up locations across West Virginia.
