    Two I64E/I77S crashes send total of four people to hospital

    UPDATE (1:20 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14) – All lanes of I-64-E/I-77S are open after two crashes Wednesday just two miles apart.

    The first crash happened around 11:15 a.m. near the 93-mile marker and sent three people to the hospital. The second crash happened just before 12:40 near the 95-mile marker and sent one patient to the hospital. There is no word on the extent of the patients’ injuries from either crash.

    According to West Virginia State Police Turnpike Post radio operators, the second crash did involve a passenger vehicle and a rollback tow truck. However, they say the rollback was not responding to the first crash and belongs to a different company than the one WVSP uses.


    UPDATE (1:20 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14) – Another crash just two miles away from a crash on I-64-E/I-77S this morning has sent another person to the hospital.

    According to Kanawha County Metro 911 dispatchers, this second crash happened around 12:40 p.m. near the 95-mile marker of I-64-E/I-77S. They say one person was taken to the hospital, but there is no word on the extent of their injuries.

    The West Virginia State Police Turnpike Post, Charleston Fire Department, Malden Volunteer Fire Department and Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority responded to the second crash.


    UPDATE (12:15 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14) – Dispatchers say three people were taken to the hospital after a crash on I-64-E/I-77S near the 93-mile marker this morning. There is no word on the extent of their injuries.

    According to dispatchers, fire and EMS crews have been cleared from the scene. WV 511 says the left southbound lane remains closed at this time.

    The West Virginia State Police Turnpike Post, Charleston Fire Department, Marmet Volunteer Fire Department, Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority and Charleston EMS responded.


    KANAWHA COUNTY, WV (WOWK) – A vehicle crash on the interstate is causing some traffic problems in Kanawha County.

    According to Kanawha County Metro 911, the crash happened around 11:15 a.m. Wednesday on I-64-E/I-77S near the 93-mile marker, just outside of Kanawha City. West Virginia 511 says the southbound roadway is currently closed due to the crash.

    Dispatchers say two vehicles were involved and sustained “heavy damage.” There were three people in the vehicles, but there is no word yet on any injuries.
