Big Chimney home has serious smoke damage following fire

UPDATE: (11:47 p.m. Friday, August 16 ) – A home is not destroyed, but has serious smoke damage following a fire Friday night.

A passerby saw smoke coming from the home on Lighthouse Way in Big Chimney and called for help, the family was not home a the time.

Deputy Chief Charlie Cunningham with the Pinch Fire Department says they found the fire coming from a basement utility closet.

It is not known how the fire started at this time.

BIG CHIMNEY, WV (WOWK) – Crews are on the scene of a structure fire in Kanawha County.

According to Kanawha County Metro 911 dispatchers, the call came in around 7:15 p.m. Friday for a fire in the 100 block of Lighthouse Way in Big Chimney. Dispatchers say callers reported smoke coming from the home.

There have been no reports of injuries, and dispatchers say neighbors told them they did not believe the residents were home at the time.

The Pinch, Clendenin and Frame volunteer fire departments, Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority and Kanawha County Emergency Management are responding.
