Cool break before new heat wave for WV, KY & OH

(WOWK) — A few cooler than normal nights are in store for the first half of the work week but the heat is back on starting Friday. Weather models indicate a new and prolonged heat wave is expected for the region right into the start of September.

The first half of the week features some very nice afternoon highs that are projected to be below normal.

The overnight lows will drop well below normal by Tuesday morning and there will be a crisp feel to the morning air Tuesday through Thursday.

Starting Friday, weather models ramp up the heat for days on end.

The following week of August 26-31 also shows weather models with highs in the 90s and even some upper 90s with no rain expected. This could be one of the longest, hottest heatwaves of the summer for the WOWK-TV viewing area and residents should think about ways they can beat the heat starting this coming Friday (August 23).
