Motion asks for injunction in Greenbrier Resort Auction

GREENBRIER COUNTY, WV (WOWK) — A motion filed Monday is asking for a court injunction when it comes to the upcoming auction of the Greenbrier Resort.

The auction in Greenbrier County is scheduled for Aug. 27 after a bank said the owners of the historic venue defaulted on a loan.

The motion is asking the court for injunctive relief based on several factors: first that the legal notice that ran in a newspaper was “deficient,” that it would create chaos for the local economy and that the contract the bank says gave them the right to sell the property was never approved by the Greenbrier Board of Directors or by the owners of the Greenbrier, which includes Governor Jim Justice and his children.

Justice said the loan was sold by J.P. Morgan Chase Bank without any warning to the Justice companies. He said the CEO of Morgan Chase has strong ties to the Biden-Harris Administration and that he is being targeted, a charge Democrats call ridiculous.

Gov. Justice said last week that his family has paid tens of millions of dollars on the loan, with the debt now paid down to just over $9 million. He said more payments will be made, and he believes the auction of the Greenbrier will not happen.

Justice bought the iconic landmark out of bankruptcy in 2009.

On Monday, 13 News also reported that the Greenbrier Council of Labor Unions that represents the Greenbrier’s nearly 2,000 workers is looking to take action after employees received a letter saying their insurance could lapse.

The company said that payments are behind $2.4 million and that the next payment of $1.2 million is due soon. It said in the letter to employees that the payments are due on Aug. 27, the same day that the Greenbrier is set to be auctioned.

A hearing on the motion regarding the sale of the Greenbrier is set for Friday.

Take it, sell it, don't give Justice a dime of it, instead, give it to families that lost loved ones in his coal mines, open a soup kitchen, anything other then giving Justice a dime, well maybe a little something for " baby dog"
