UPDATE: (5:07 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2024) – One Mason County community is grieving the loss of a neighbor after a fatal fire in the Glenwood area.

The fire was reported around 11:25 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19 in the 40100 block of Huntington Rd. Neighbors said they heard a loud explosion and that when they looked outside, they saw flames shooting 50 feet in the air.

A 74-year-old man died in the fire, but his identity has not yet been released. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neighbors say the victim was a kind man. Area resident Regina Waugh says her daughter even tried to help the man, but the fire was just too hot.
