GRAYSON, KY (WOWK) – The Grayson Police Department is searching for a vehicle that struck a blind pedestrian.

According to City of Grayson officials, the incident happened Wednesday morning around 6:20 a.m. in the crosswalk at the intersection of Main Street and South Hord Street.

City officials say the pedestrian is blind. A video shared on the city’s Facebook page shows the pedestrian using their cane to walk in the crosswalk as a pickup truck that was not involved in the incident passes by on the street parallel to the crosswalk. A car then comes into view on the street the pedestrian is crossing and stops in the crosswalk, striking the pedestrian.

In the city’s video, the pedestrian cries out as they fall forward onto the sidewalk. The car then backs up, and then begins driving forward again squealing its tires and leaving the pedestrian on the ground.

In the video, the pedestrian can be heard yelling, “Are you serious?” as the car drives away. WOWK 13 News is working to learn if the pedestrian was hurt and the extent of any injuries they may have sustained.

Anyone with any information on the vehicle or the incident is asked to contact the Grayson PD at 606-474-4308 or 911.
