FLOYD COUNTY, KY (WOWK) — The 20-year-old who was arrested after getting on a Floyd County school bus had fled the scene of a trespassing complaint and was trying to get from one end of the city to the other, according to the Prestonsburg Police Department.

Police Chief Ross Shurtleff said they received a trespassing call around 6 a.m. on Tuesday. The suspect had fled the scene before a deputy with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department arrived.

Once the deputy had left, the Prestonsburg PD said he returned to the area and got onto the school bus with his brother, who is a student with Floyd County Schools.

The bus was intercepted and the man was arrested on an outstanding indictment warrant and for criminal trespass. He is being held in the Floyd County Detention Center. Police said he was trying to get from one end of the city to the other.
