WVSU welcomes new students for fall semester

INSTITUTE, WV (WOWK) – Thursday marked a big day for West Virginia State University.

A swarm of black and gold could be seen from Ferrell Hall to the Student Plaza as new and transfer students received a big Yellow Jacket welcome with the annual WVSU State Stride!

Dozens of people gathered to cheer these students on and wish them a successful semester. There were also folks on hand to help show the new students how they can get involved in on-campus activities.

“It’s like a spirit thing where everybody gets together and they get to see the different types of stuff that happens on – that’s going on on campus,” said one student.

“Yeah, just getting to meet new people and make new connections and see new faces. That’s what this is all about,” said another student.

Once the new Yellow Jackets arrived on the Plaza, they were treated to free food and music.
