Area firefighters train for nighttime burns in Mason County

APPLE GROVE, WV (WOWK) – Area firefighters got a refresher this weekend to help enhance their skills for the moments they’re needed the most.

Valley Fire & Rescue in Mason County, West Virginia, hosted a nighttime burn live burn training on Saturday night.

A total of 28 firefighters from eight different departments across four counties participated in the event, practicing their skills of combatting fires at night and working together for mutual aid.

Some items on the agenda for the training session included suppression, search, victim rescue and fire behavior.
