MASON COUNTY, WV (WOWK) – It’s almost time once again for the event that draws thousands of people to the small city of Point Pleasant, West Virginia – The Mothman Festival.

This year’s event is slated for Saturday, Sept. 21, and Sunday, Sept. 22, along Main Street near the Mothman Museum . The annual festival commemorates the 1966 sighting of the Mothman in the TNT area of Point Pleasant, although the initial sighting was on Nov. 15 of that year.

“We are again preparing for the annual concoction of family reunion, cosplay and fun here at the 2024 Mothman Festival,” organizers said. “We look forward to seeing you here in Point Pleasant, WV!”

The Mothman Festival will feature a variety of attractions, events and entertainment, including the Mothman Hayride through the TNT area, cosplay opportunities, photo ops with the iconic Mothman Statue, TNT bus tours (which are already sold out for this year), and a virtual Mothman 5K . Organizers say they had to cancel the in-person 5K this year due to “unavoidable personal circumstances.”
