Newton VFD accepting water requests for agriculture, livestock purposes

ROANE COUNTY, WV (WOWK) — The Newton Volunteer Fire Department is accepting requests from people who need water for agriculture or livestock purposes.

Once the request is submitted to the department, it will be forwarded to the state Department of Forestry for funding as part of the Emergency Drought Relief Reimbursement Grant Program .

There are stipulations like you have to be on a main, paved road or 200 feet from the road surface, and if you’re off a main road, a fire department member will see if it is safe to bring that water to you, the Newton VFD said.

If you message them, they ask you to give your name, address, contact phone number, how much water you need, a description of the area where the apparatus would have to go, any hazards, and if it is within 200 feet of the roadway.
