CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – West Virginia Governor Jim Justice says that on Monday he will be calling a special session of the State Legislature.

Justice says he plans for the special session to take place sometime toward the end of September. The goal, he says, will be to provide some type of tax cut for West Virginians and legislation to help with funding for childcare.

Earlier this summer, the governor announced that he wants another 5% cut to help attract out-of-state workers to move here.

Late last month, dozens of advocates for childcare, and their kids, rallied outside and inside the building. They want childcare tax credits to make it more affordable for families, and they also hope the state provides more subsidies to keep struggling childcare providers in business.
