    Natural Resources police officer, wildlife management worker recovering after UTV crash

    UPDATE (12:37 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, 2024) – A West Virginia Natural Resources Officer and a wildlife management employee are out of the hospital and recovering after a UTV crash in Boone County Thursday afternoon.

    The roll-over crash happened while they were working in a remote area of the Coal River Wildlife Management Area. Initially, the officer was flown to the hospital for treatment.

    The West Virginia Natural Resources Police are investigating the crash.


    BOONE COUNTY, WV (WOWK) – A West Virginia Natural Resources Police Officer and a wildlife management employee were injured in a UTV crash in Boone County.

    Andy Malinoski, director of Marketing and Communications for the WV Department of Commerce says the roll-over crash happened in the Coal River Wildlife Management Area. He said the officer and the employee were working in a remote area of the Coal River WMA when the incident happened.

    According to Malinoski, the NRPO officer was flown to CAMC General to be treated for his injuries. The wildlife management employee’s injuries were less threatening, he says.

    The West Virginia Natural Resources Police is investigating and processing the crash.
