CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – Another new addition is coming to Charleston’s business landscape.

After months of planning, Par Mar stores broke ground on their newest location along MacCorkle Avenue Southeast near Laurys and the Amtrak Station in Charleston. It took a couple of years for this ceremony to happen because crews had to get the grounds ready after General Electric left the property.

“About two and a half years ago, we bought this property and we’ve been working with the city and some state officials on making sure that the ground was fertile. This was a GE General Electric facility before,” said Brian Waugh, president of Par Mar Stores. “We’ll have a full convenience for our store by selling BP fuel, along with an Arby’s restaurant.”

Par Mar Stores is based in Marietta, Ohio, and operates more than 200 stores across six states, including, West Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio.

Officials say their goal is to have this store ready for business by the end of the year.
