Brief rain late week in OH, KY & WV with cooler weekend

(WOWK) — Showers and thundershowers are possible in the region late Friday night and for the early hours of Saturday (Sept 7) as a cold front brings a cooler feel to the area for the weekend. See the slide show below for an idea of when and where rain can fall.

There could be a few lightning delays at Friday night football games so pack a poncho just in case.

Much of the region is still in an exceptional drought area as of the new USA Drought Monitor issued Thursday (Sept 5).

This front will not bring much in the way of rain. The StormTracker 13 Predictor model output actually has some of the higher projections on rainfall for this event and even where there is more rain, it’s clearly not enough to break the drought.

Daytime highs are cooler for the weekend but there doesn’t seem to be any rain in sight for the entire week to come as temperatures once again climb sharply. The drought will continue unabated.
