    Charleston daycare looking for temporary facility after fire

    CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – A Charleston daycare is figuring out its next steps after a fire broke out Thursday morning.

    According to the Charleston Fire Department, the owner and staff at Friendly Faces Daycare on Fledderjohn Road around 6:30 a.m. Thursday morning, just 30 minutes before the kids were set to arrive.

    The Charleston Fire Department and Charleston Police Department arrived shortly after and were able to subdue the fire after an hour. Firefighters did have to ventilate the building by putting a hole in the roof.

    Now, the owner, Brenda Perry Baisden, says they are trying to find a temporary place to rent and are looking at six to nine months “down time.” Despite the setback of the fire, they say the goal is to be up and running again as soon as possible.

    “This has been hard on myself, my kids our staff and of course our families, we appreciate your phone calls, text, and offering us help, please be patient and keep us in your prayers,” Perry Baisden said in a post on the daycare’s Facebook page .
