Century old family hardware store opens Roane County location

SPENCER, WV (WOWK) – Hardman’s Hardware has been a family run operation for years, and it is just expanded to a new location in Roane County on Saturday.

The newest location, which used to be a grocery store, took two years to open. When the owner Owen Hardman was a child, he would hand customers receipts, and now he owns the store.

“I’ve been involved throughout as I’ve grown up, and after college, I came back. When my father and two uncles retired, I took over. The community support is essential. I mean we would not be in business if not for community support and for our customers,” Hardman said.

Hardman also said that this would not have been possible without the support of the staff and community members.

“We had a great team I couldn’t have done it myself. I didn’t do it myself,” he said.

He thanked the staff, contractors and employees from corporate as well, adding that his first order of business will be taking a break before returning to the shelves to take care of busy customers.

The store will be opened to the public on Monday.
