HUNTINGTON, WV (WOWK) — The campaign season for the United Way of the River Cities officially went into full swing as things kicked off in Huntington Monday.

This year’s theme is “Creating Opportunities Together,” and as the biggest fundraiser of the year for United Way, it allows them to support all of the non-profit organizations in the community.

Funded partners came together at the Brad D. Smith Center for a panel discussion to share how their work has helped clients over the years.

“It would be very different. United Way, what we’re able to do, you know, a lot of people on their own can do a small amount here, a small amount there, but they’re not able to make the big, big impact, and United Way does is we amplify all that impact by pulling all those resources together,” said Jedd Flowers, executive director of the United Way of the River Cities. “These small efforts, these small gifts, all those different things all together makes a big, big impact. Without the United Way, you wouldn’t have that strategic force for making an impact.”

The organization currently has 28 funded partners and 30 programs.
