    Lens Creek Road reopens after downed utility lines, tree in roadway

    UPDATE (4:50 P.M., Tuesday, Sept. 10) – Kanawha County Metro 911 dispatchers say Lens Creek Road is reopened after downed utility lines and a fallen tree blocked part of the road this afternoon.


    UPDATE (1:50 P.M., Tuesday, Sept. 10) – Kanawha County Metro 911 dispatchers say one lane of Lens Creek Road in Hernshaw has reopened after a tractor-trailer hauling equipment got caught on utility lines, knocking down the lines and a tree.


    KANAWHA COUNTY, WV (WOWK) – A downed tree and utility lines have closed part of a roadway in Kanawha County.

    According to Kanawha County Metro 911 dispatchers the area of the 1700 block of Lens Creek Road in Hernshaw is closed in both directions due to the issue. Dispatchers say a tractor-trailer hauling a piece of equipment caught the lines, knocking them and a tree down.

    Dispatchers say the issue was first reported around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. One person is being checked out on the scene by medics, but no one has been transported for medical treatment.

    There is no word on how long the road will remain closed at this time. Along with EMS, the Marmet Volunteer Fire Department, Marmet Police Department and West Virginia State Police are responding. Utility companies and the West Virginia Division of Highways have been contacted about the downed lines and downed tree, respectively.
