KANAWHA COUNTY, WV (WOWK) — A man was sentenced to five years in prison in connection to the shooting death of a 34-year-old Charleston man in August 2022, according to court documents.

According to court documents, Collins accepted a plea deal and pleaded guilty to being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm in August 2024 . The other two charges were dropped.

Court documents said Collins was sentenced to five years in prison, which will run after any sentencing from a federal case that dates back to the early 2010s. He has to pay a $5,000 fine and will get credit for the 743 days he has served.
