Ohio school threat suspect also made threats toward Kentucky schools, police say

ASHLAND, KY (WOWK) — Police say there is a correlation between a suspect arrested for making online threats to schools in Ohio and threats that were made to schools in Ashland, Kentucky.

According to a post on the Ashland Police Department Facebook page , preliminary evidence shows that a juvenile was using social media to make threats toward other people and schools in Ashland and Ohio.

The post also said that the juvenile is the same suspect arrested by the Lawrence County, Ohio Sheriff’s Office earlier in the day , a 12-year-old girl and student at Dawson Bryant Junior High School.

An earlier post on the Ashland Independent Schools Facebook page said that a School Resource Officer was placed in each school in response to these threats, in coordination with the Ashland School System. Patrols were also doubled in and around schools.

The suspect is being charged with delinquency by terroristic threat and delinquency by inducing panic, the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office said. She is at the Lawrence County Juvenile Center and will be arraigned in Lawrence County Juvenile Court.

Other cases are reportedly pending.
