No charges to be filed against Chapmanville Regional teen

UPDATE (3:13 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13): A teen will not be charged and has been released to their parents in connection to what was believed to be a threat towards Chapmanville Regional High School, according to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.

They said a student shared a post with an adult that was found to have nothing to do with any Chapmanville schools. This wasn’t known until after the two students involved were “removed,” the sheriff’s office said.

West Virginia State Police Sergeant Jamie Harris said that at no time were students in danger.

“After the detention of the student or the alleged threat, law enforcement was able to learn that this was unfortunately a victim of circumstance. This juvenile student who was identified, turned out, made no post had made no threat and had no intention to commit any act of violence,” Sgt. Harris said.

“I would like to make clear that that student did absolutely nothing wrong today,” Sgt. Harris said.

CHAPMANVILLE, WV (WOWK) — A 16-year-old is in custody for making a threat toward Chapmanville Regional High School, according to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.

They said the threat caused the school to go on lockdown. No weapons were involved, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Office said all Chapmanville-area schools are letting out at 12:30 p.m.
