KANAWHA COUNTY, WV (WOWK) — One local restaurant is showing that football is more than just a game, it brings people together during the good times and the bad.

The Bucket in Dunbar held a Backyard Brawl party for Maddox “Mad Dog” Potter, a WVU superfan battling cancer.

“It eventually got very severe. It was affecting his day-to-day life and we knew that something wasn’t quite right,” said Jennifer Potter, Maddox’s mother.

“Worlds collided and it’s obviously touching to everyone, and Mad Dog is a strong young man and we’re here to help that out,” said Chris Adkins, Owner of The Bucket

He’s such a fan that defensive back Garnett Hollis has dedicated every tackle and turnover he makes this season to him. There is even a fundraiser for Potter that has raised more than $5,000. You can find that fundraiser by clicking here .

Even though Mad Dog wasn’t able to make it to The Bucket, he’s still cheering on the Mountaineers.
