    Firefighter injured in Charleston fire

    UPDATE (5:30 p.m. on September 15, 2024) — A firefighter with the Charleston Fire Department (CFD) was reportedly injured in the fire that broke out on Jackson Street Saturday evening.

    According to David Hodges of the CFD, the firefighter sustained burns while battling the fire but was treated at a local hospital and has since been released.


    CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) — Crews are battling a fire along Jackson Street that sent at least one person to the hospital Saturday evening.

    That’s according to Kanawha County dispatchers. They say the call came in just after 7 p.m.

    The extent of the person’s injuries is unknown at this time.

    It was a squatter who started the fire. Those two houses need to be torn down. There has been so many fires between the two emoty houses. Squatters coming in and out. It's been a mess. They are tearing the house down tomorrow finally and getting a court order to tear the other one down.
