Route 10 near Chapmanville closed due to structure fire

CHAPMANVILLE, WV (WOWK) – Route 10 near Chapmanville, otherwise known as Lincoln Highway, is still closed while crews respond to a structure fire in the area.

According to dispatchers, two abandoned homes caught fire overnight. The fire damaged power lines to a nearby railroad crossing. AEP is also on scene.

According to the AEP outage map, about 2,000 customers in that area are currently in the dark. It’s still unclear whether all of the outages are directly related to the fire; however, the expected restoration time is 1:00 p.m.

Traffic is currently being diverted to Big Creek Road, according to dispatchers.
