Nitro warns of increased fire danger risk

NITRO, WV (WOWK) – The National Weather Service announced an increased risk for fire danger on Monday because of the extremely dry conditions. The NWS says wind gusts upwards of 10 to 20 miles per hour.

Because of these conditions, the City of Nitro is asking everyone to avoid any activities that cause open flames or sparks.

Fires are spreading very easily in these conditions, fire officials say.

At this time, the Nitro Fire Department is not issuing any outdoor burning permits.
