Not much rain for WV, KY & OH from tropical system

(WOWK) — A tropical system that flooded parts of North Carolina is heading toward the WOWK-TV viewing region, but the StormTracker 13 meteorologists do not anticipate much in the way of accumulation.

The storm dumped more than 20 inches of rain in parts of North Carolina near Wilmington over the course of Sunday and Monday.

The weather system was called “potential tropical cyclone” because low pressure centers are called cyclones and the characteristics of a tropical storm were never quite realized. The resulting low pressure center is moving to the northwest.

Showers are possible from early Tuesday in the 13 News area through the middle of the afternoon Thursday. However, we do not expect much in the way of accumulations. Current weather models indicate less than an inch of rain which will not be enough to curtail the impacts of the drought.

Meanwhile, the hot and dry weather is expected to take back over starting Friday with highs once again back in the upper 80s.
