MINGO COUNTY, WV (WOWK) – Mingo Central High School was dismissed this morning as authorities investigated a “suspicious note” found on school property.

According to the Mingo County Board of Education, West Virginia State Police and the Mingo County Sheriff’s Office responded to the school with a K-9 unit to conduct a security sweep. BOE officials say law enforcement gave an all-clear for the situation at 10:52 a.m., deeming the threat as “non-credible.”

Classes at Mingo Central will resume Friday on a regular schedule.

The BOE and law enforcement say they are now investigating to find the person, or people, responsible for the note.

Officials with the BOE thanked law enforcement for their quick response and thanked the school community for their cooperation during the investigation.
