SCIOTO COUNTY, OH (WOWK) — A man accused of shooting a Scioto County deputy was indicted on 11 counts, including attempted murder, according to court documents.

Michael Bishop, 39, of Portsmouth, is accused of shooting a deputy while they were responding to a call on Sept. 14, according to the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office. The deputy was flown to the hospital and has since been released.

Police said they lost track of Bishop after he fled through the back of the residence. Soon after, police said they heard he was in the area of the Wheelersburg Ballfield on Dogwood Ridge where he surrendered.

According to court documents, Bishop was indicted on charges of attempted murder, attempted aggravated murder, first-degree and second-degree felonious assault, discharge of a firearm on or near prohibited premises, three counts of having weapons while under disability, tampering with evidence, inducing panic, and obstructing official business.
